At an event last week, I was able to look at several different products on the market.  One company offered optics by the name of Counter Sniper Optics.  They offer many different options, but the one that interested my AR was a 1-4x30mm red/green illuminated reticle.  According to the rep, they have sold to the US Army for the last 8 years and are in the process of selling to the US LEO market etc.  The company is based out of NY.  Any insight on these products is appreciated.  Thanks guys.

The name doesn't ring a bell, but I'd be interested in hearing more about the 1.1-4 optic. Weight, length, country of origin, etc...

Apparently, b/c it's primarily a military sales company, the web site is not up and running.  Only a main page is available.  www.countersniperusa.com

All CounterSniper Products will be available globally on December 1, 2006!
Distributed Exclusively Worldwide by Dark Ops Holdings,

Sounds like airsoft. I'm sure only Army SEALs use it thats why we haven't heard of it.

I also had a chance to look these over at a school.  I was impressed with them.  Keep in mind I did'nt get to bang them off any rocks, but they were clear, light, crisp, and had had features most would desire.  They are expensive, but they do offer gov't overruns at like 45% or so of the retail cost.  They are sold through Dark Ops Holdings, maybe check with them and see about more info.  I have catalogs I picked up at school, so if there are any specific questions I may have the info in them.  Oh, and the gov't over run 1-4x is like $299, can't beat that!

Yeah, if airsoft stuff is made from titanium, and cost a shit ton, thats what they are.  Give the company a chance to fail or impress on their merits.  They are a new product, thats why you have'nt heard of them.  They are made in New York, and I for one, am willing to give a new US company a shot to impress me.  My boss at work has one coming, I'll give you a better assesment when it gets here if you like (I will bang this one off of trees).  Don't jump all over a company because you have'nt heard of them, I'm sure there are plenty of great products that you never heard about before.  Oh, and Dark Ops is a very reputable blade maker, not an airsoft company, they just distribute these optics, so shows you don't know much about what you are talking about.  Do some research before you slam someone, thats just irresponsible.

Ive seen their stuff at the AMCHAR dealer show and it looks good but the prices they are asking are nuts! I can't find their catalog but I think i remember they were asking over a $1,000 for a Aimpoint clone.  I did order one of their over run scopes, Its been over a month now and I'm still waiting.

Other than being made from titanium, not much to my eye.

similar design and look of the CCO? 2MOA or 4MOA dot?

so basically they are taking combat proven designs and making them out of exotic metals and charging 3-4x as much?

It looked like an exact copy, only had knobs for adjustment instead of removeable caps.  4 moa if I remember right, my catalog is at work and I'm home now.  I think all other optic models come in aluminum or titanium, save for the aimpoint copy, only in titanium.  I agree overkill for this type of sight.

I believe these guys advertise in the gun rags, and have very "over the top" advertising (full color, full page ads looking very "tactical.")  I recall the insane prices as well, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's worth it or not.

According to the rep I spoke to the other day, they have been supplying to the US Army for that last 8 years.  They are based out of Rochester, NY and every over run scope is about 70% off.  They will have "Department of the Army" stamped on it...well, atleast the over run one I used last week did.  The 1-4x30 is $799 normally, but like someone said, $299 after the discount.  We'll see...I was hoping someone up here had one.  But like the guy said, it was only sold to military originally and they're hoping to open the market up.  Thanks.

Went through the Fed Log and i can't find them. I didn't see any in the Sand Box. Never seen a scope marked "Department of the Army" in 22 years of service. Anybody ever get issued one? What is the NSN.

Yep....I know they were in the past couple months of SOF whenever I go to wally world to browse the gun rags.  I kept seeing their ads but wondering who the hell they were b/c I'd never heard of them.

Yeah, all US Army scopes for the last decade are accounted for and Counter Sniper Optics are not among them.  If they're supplying anything to the Army, it's as a subcontractor for repair parts or accessories.

I think they're playing up a very minor Army relationship for marketing.

Forget that nonsense and get a Leupold Mk4 MRT/M2.

I've seen these, better off going for something like Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40, awsome scope and very affordable.

These can handle magnum recoil, even .50 cal, also it  hold zero perfectly, so I've been told by many Elite owners and published info on the net.

If this exact scope was made by Leupolds, it would probably be over a $1000 vs 2 to $300 retail price.

I was looking into IOR or Leupolds, but ended up purchasing a Elite 10x40.

Cant wait till it get here.

Every USGI telescopically sighted rifle I have seen since 1990 has had a Leupold on it, except for a couple old National Guard M21's that still had Leatherwood ARTs in 1992.

I have seen S&B Short Dots in pictures of two specific Army units. I have worked with one of those units very briefly in '03 before the Short Dot hit the market, and all I saw were EoTechs and ACOGs.

I have never seen a 6000 dollar CounterSniper Titanium wonderscope anywhere Given as their ads are done by the same clowns who brought us Vulcan Arms and Extreme Shock ammo, I'd steer clear for the price alone.

Leupold must have the major Mil contract.  I one time in my life dealt with two very experienced, real 'operators'.  Both used SR-25's, both schucked the Leupold scopes and both, out of their own pockets, bought Nightforce scopes.
