I have a Bushmaster E2 A3 M4, have not shot it yethave What I would like to do is buy a complete upper for varmit /coyote hunting. I guess the easyest is to buy from bushmaster, the question I have is about the trigger, do I have to change it out for more accuracy?  Do I have to do anything else to the lower to make it a true varmiter? Thanks

Welcome aboard!

Probably the easiest thing for you would be to buy either a Bushmaster Varminter upper or their Preditor upper. Both have nice barrels with freefloat handguards. The only difference is the Varminter uses a 24" barrel and the Predator uses a 20". It would be very, very easy to do a whole lot worse, especially for someone as new to the rifle as you are.

A nice trigger will help you get the most out of your rifle. There are many good choices. But you can also make some bad ones too.

A quick primer on trigger types. There are two. Single stage and double (or two) stage. The AR15 uses the single stage type. However you can buy high quaility double stage units.

A single stage trigger has one long pull that is constant throughout it's pull.

The two stage trigger has a long pull that towards the end will come to a point where you'll notice an increase in pressure is needed. Add the extra pressure and pull through to discharge the firearm. If you've ever shot an unmodified Springfield M1903, or any of it's variations, the M1 Garand, M1A/M14 type or just about any of the WWl and WWll era bolt action service rifles then you've shot a two stage trigger.

The predator has a different twist rate than the varminter as well.

Well silly me!

I always assumed they just shortened the longer barrel. Oops...
