Hi, I am looking at getting either a LMT or CMMG.  I was going to go with LMT until I started reading about CMMG now I don't know.  Is CMMG a good SHTF gun? I will also use this rifle as my duty rifle also.   It seems to me that CMMG is just as high quality as LMT or any other tier 1 rifle.

LMT

I bought my First upper a M4 14.5
and man was this baby ACCURATE

So that  made me buy a COMPLETE Defender 2000 M4 SOPMOD
I couldnt ask for a BETTER Carbine
My LMT Defender M4 can out shoot me!

at 50 yards I get a ragged hole/Clovers useing a ML2 and BH 75gr and 77gr
I used my Ammo can for a rest

LMT Machine gun Barrels are as accurate as some MATCH type out there

Plus there 10.5 uppers are out fighting the WAR

LMT. CMMG uses DPMS Barrels and other parts that are refinished.

I don't think so.

CMMG starts with a 4150 blank.  DPMS uses 4140.

ETA:  Both are good stuff.  LMT doesn't park under the FSB and their QC has been lacking according to recent posters.  That being said, a vendor here mentioned that LMT barrels are bored after taking into account the chrome lining thickness which yields good accuracy.
Then again, I have no complaints with CMMG.

Buy both

What barrel length are you looking for? My 14.7" CMMG upper is extremely accurate and very well made. I don't know about the DPMS parts or whatever but I also have a DPMS AP4 and it is extremely accurate as well and I have never had any problems with it. But if you are wanting a 14.5" from CMMG, you might be waiting a while like me, don't get in any hurry.

That is a flat out lie.

CMMG used DPMS barrels back when they where simply a DPMS dealer, at least 4-5 years ago. They some refurbished Colt 11.5" uppers awhile back. But nothing like what you said.

Both are great.

I have an LMT currently, so I have to give that a +1

But I will be getting a CMMG 1/7 20" in the next week or so.

I guess pick whichever saves you the most money.

Is this the reason WHY LMT ARE SO ACCURATE?

Really I freaked on the accuracy of M4 Defender 2000

Does Colt do the same

BTW on CMMG  I do like what they OFFER

I never handle one yet but from what I HEAR they are GOOD TO GO

I may be wrong about the barrels but a dealier from this site(who i won't mention) bought barrels and other parts from CMMG and said they definitely get many of their parts from DPMS. He is a reputable dealier and i have no doubt what he's saying is correct.

Getting Parts from DPMS is way fucking different than saying

What i meant by refinished was not to imply they were used. Ok so they did use DPMS once upon a time. Maybe it was a few years ago when the dealier bought their stuff; he didn't mention?

I have had my 14.5" M4 CMMG upper (on a Bushy lower) for 3 years and it is dead on the money accurate. I recently purchased a LMT 14.5" M4 upper and I can't tell the diff in they way the two shoot. BOTH are outstanding shooters and I am in love with both. I'm now waiting for my LMT Defender 2000 lower to come into my FFL to mate it to the new LMT upper. As stated before, GET BOTH, or get either one. You will be happy no matter what you decide.

I bought an LMT complete upper and for a few extra $ Denny puts a SWEET ASS park on the bbl and fsb.  Best of both worlds.  The worst drawback to the LMT is the fsb park issue,(especially a problem with a ff hg), and it is eliminated by the awesome park job.  I liked it so much he is building me another right now.  14.5 with a perm SDI extended A2.. what could be finer!

CMMG 16" with mid-length gas here. Only problem was the gas block wasn't staked (option from CMMG) and loosened. I tightened and staked it and have had no problems since then.  Rifle shoots to 1.75MOA.

If I needed another AR upper, it would be form CMMG. I love the flexibility they give you so you can get exactly what you want. BSW

My experiences as follows:

Had an LMT upper that went back a few times to the factory for feeding issues. Had an upper that went back and forth to CMMG several times before I gave up and got a refund. Both companies will back their products and both companies come highly recommended on this board. However just like all companies, stuff happens once in a while, rest assured, it nearly always happens to me.

C77 summed it up nicely. They are machines made by People who screw up occasionally. What the companies do after they find they have a QC problem is the key.CMMG and LMT will take care of your problem and care about what they make.

Ive always good luck with CMMG but my buddy recently ordered an upper from them and had to wait nearly 4 months. good service and they were communicative, just backed up. If youre looking for LMT i would like to recommend Kiser Munitions. Joe Kiser knows how to treat his customers and usually has Defender2000 lowers in stock.
