Today was the first day I shot my new 16" Armalite M-15A4 Carbine along side my buddy shooting his 20" Bushy XM15. Afterwards we returned to the house for some cleaning and cold ones. While taking the extractors off our bolts we thought my spring had broken off. Turns out mine has a black o-ring around my spring. What's the reason for the o-ring, and why does his Bushy not have one? Would he benefit from adding one, or would I benefit from taking mine off? Here is a pic. Thanks in advance. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/justinr6/small.jpg |

+1 O-rings increases extractor strength and improve extraction reliability. LMT added O-rings to their production bolt assemblies last year. The black extractor insert buffer is standard on all M4, M4A1, Mk18 carbines and M16A4 rifles. They're available as O-rings only or with an extractor spring upgrade kit which includes extra power chrome silicon extractor spring and black insert buffer from Bravo Company, Denny's Global Tactical, ADCO Firearms, and others. On my two carbines that I upgraded with extra power extractor springs, the spring is so strong I didn't need the O-Ring and didn't install them. These are all reliability options and it's up to the user if they want to use them or not. BCM SOPMOD Bolt Upgrade-Rebuid Kit - Bravo Co. website link |
