Well I have decided to get the pelican sopmod and p228 case for storage at home and for transfer in car to the range. I am looking for a soft case with backpack straps so I can hump to the range for exercise. I would love to just cary my rifle at the ready but I think some people would freak out as I walk by walmart with a weapon( eventhough i am in texas and it is legal to walk down the street with a loaded rifle). I would like a case where I have extra storage for poggy bait and anything else I might need for a full day at the range.

Don't store guns in pelican cases.  They are great for transport, but the open-celled foam continually absorbs and deposits moisture from the air and onto your weapons.  Bad juju.  Get a safe for storage and install a Goldenrod for anti-humidity.  Use the Pelican for transport to the range.

As for working out: why the hell would you want to run around with a rifle?  Are you joking?!?  Seriously; They make weight belts and vests.  Hell, fill a camelbak and go running.  At least then you could use the contents of your case for drinking.  Don't you think a rifle case will draw some suspicion?  I'm not a cop, but if I was and saw some dude running down the street with a rifle case strapped on their back, I would have to say that they would be stopped.  What the hell do you think people are going think is in there?  A guitar?  A proton pack?  Tennis racket?

I've heard some pretty silly things on this board, but this one takes the cake.

He said hump, not run. Guy mentions exercising and you rip into him. Sheesh.

As I stated it is to hump to the range not normal exercise. Most of which is on a long road not verry much traveled. You should really read the thread completly before bashing someone. It is completly legal what I want to do and I am not concerned about the laws. I was just worried about peoples perception for the 100 to 200 meters that I have to walk close to a walmart. As far as standard exercise I do run without weapons.

Thanks for the suggestion on the pelican case and I will defently look further into that.

I have a great soft case with backpack straps that I got a cheaper than dirt.... love it!  It has 2 pouches secured by zipper.  Bottom one is for rifle, top one holds mags & a pistol.
