Decided to try something a little different. One of the newest rounds to come out in the last several years is the .204 Ruger. DPMS makes a pretty nice barrel for cheap through Brownells so I decided to put one together. Here's the finished rifle.......
Bushmaster Lower Jewell Trigger System A2 Stock with DPMS Aluminum Spacer Hogue Pistol Grip Armalite FG Handguard (green) DPMS Highrise Upper Young Carrier Smith Bolt DPMS 24", Fluted, SS Barrel Les Baer Railed Gasblock Weaver Quad Rings Burris 4.5-14x42 FFII Tactical Scope (green)
I have pushed about 300 rounds through it now and the groups have begun to stabilize. Seems to like the 32 gr Sierra BlitzKing bullets best. Here's my best 5-round group at 100 yards shot yesterday. A .437" group at 100 yds isn't too bad for an autoloader! Real "Minute-of-Squirrel" accuracy.
Really fun to shoot. Very little recoil and runs perfectly with NO FTFs or FTEs at all. DPMS got the gas port size just right for medium loads and hotter. This is going to be a great target / varmint gun.
