Looking into buying a new rifle. Would be my first AR. Any suggestions????

save money, when you think you have enough keep saving till you double it. Dont cut corners because of price. If you cut corners you will be happy for a little while then you'll end up selling everything on the ee for pennys on the dollar and buying all the stuff you wish you had bought in the first place.
and then your once loving wife will leave your broke ass

You can get a quality factory rifle in the $850 range..RRA,STAG,Bushmaster.$ even less if you build it.

Mostly range but maybe when I get back from the sandbox probably competion.

I guess a general suggestion would be get a 14-16" carbine if you intend to shoot mostly at 0-300yds. Or, get an 18-20" for further shooting. I think the heavy 24"s are mostly used by prarie dog shooters.
