howdy folks, I got a G5 suppressor on my ar-15 / SEBR. I am looking for some subsonic rounds. Ive seen articals about them the 300 whisper, but no actual place to buy some. Im also looking to rubberize my recoil buffer possably to further reduce sound or get a Hydraulic Recoil Buffer. yes I know this is all much easyer with a pistol, and yes im aware of the laws related to the subject. any other ideas with this project is welcome.

If you are talking about the "SPROIIIIIIING" .......My advice would be to embrace it.

It's like an old friend......plus getting a hydro-buffer doesnt replace your pring........and about the "rubberizing", I have no clue what you are talking about.

Accurate 2230 powder data sheet has a loading for subsonic 223

good luck on the sproing.

well I don't make my own ammo, and it appears no one sells them so Im Sh*t out of luck on that one, as for the rubberization on the recoil buffer, this was my plan. there is a product out there in hardwear stores, fairly common. that you can dip stuff in and it will create a coating of rubber, (think diping strawberrys in melted chocolate) when the rubber hardens it's fairly durable and uses a mechanical bond depending on the product, hopfully there is a product that uses a chemical bond for steel. now doing this will get rid of the metal on metal hammer sound from the recoil and make it sound like a hammer hitting a tire, a low pitch "thud" type sound. I could use many coatings if I wanted to and sand down the sides of the spring cap so it fits properly. now I know still useing sonic rounds will pail in comparison to the clank of the recoil. but it's fun to have projects even though it's pointless in the end, WHY can't women understand THAT! furthermore whats wrong with wanting to create a giant black sword and run around in the forest (middle of the night) with a ghillie suit and some nightvision goggles hunting for white tail. Thats perfectly natural I'll be Damed if someone tell me otherwise!.

Well that does sound interesting.....though that "coating" will wear out rather quikly along the buffer tube.

And if you want quiet, get a suppresor.

yes I have a suppressor the gemtech G5 it's a middle grade one costed me about $1600 total $200 extra cause I have a 14.5inch barrel, long story anywho. seems like it might be worth a try, when it wears out ill just put more coatings on, and repeat the same prosses, or find out what the formula is for car tires and possable incorperate that into the mixture, or one like it to furthure it's durabillty, also I have used this stuff before it's fairly rugged. Ill let you guys know what my findings are. anyother ideas?? is someone wants to try this too, here are some details: first ill leave the recoil spring cap in a puddle of carburator cleaner (with NO bleach in the cleaner) for several days and scrubing it with a towel to strip all grease away, finaly washing it in soap and water, followed by a long blow dryer, this is to take away any carb cleaner and make sure there is no moister (water). diping the cap in the rubberizing solution, hanging it so the cap is on top (so it drips to the back) and under heat, once dry cuting off/removing exsess from the back, and repeating the diping cycle till satisfied. and reinstalling (sand sides if need be)

Subsonic 223

Don't expect much.  You will be pretty much shooting a .22LR but with more drag.

What he said. But, the only good thing is that you are shooting a copper jacketed round instead of lead.

Also remember, sub-sonics will require you to manually charge the weapon after firing, so no sproing!

TTI Armory also offers a flavor of sub-sonic .223.

if you don't like the spring noise try an Olympic pneumatic buffer they really work good. I have one and really like it, people shoot my rifle and ask why it is so quite.

From their website:

***NOTE: Tha AC4 will NOT function in AR-15 rifles or carbines with collapsable stocks. The AC4 will only function in A2 buttstocks and buttstocks with full length extension tubes. ***
