Was hoping that someone here could help me. I need to know the value of a Colt AR - Match Target Lightweight. He says that it was bought new in 1997 or 1998. Been shot very little. Any help is much appreciated.
Same subject different question... I am getting ready to buy my first AR. I have had my mind set on a Rock River Arm - Elite Car A4. Then this Colt presented itself to me. Seeing as the Colt in question has a permanent carry handle and I want a flattop, I went out today and bought a Colt Hbar A3 upper with a 9:1 twist. Do I now need a Colt lower or will just about any lower work. I know with most brands they are interchangeable but I heard it was a little different with Colt. Thanks ahead of time.

Does your lower have a front pushpin?  What about the sear block?  Is it pinned in or a web?

Can you take some pictures of the lower.

The lower isn't a lower. The "lower" is a whole rifle. Colt Match Target Lightweight. That is what I need a price for. I would like to know what they generally go for so I don't make the purchase blind, so to speak.

I already went out and bought another Colt but this is just an upper. Near the flash suppressor it says, "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR. There is still a thin strip of cardboard in the barrel so it is brand new. I think I got a pretty good deal on it, I paid 500. Maybe not let me know.

Also interested to hear opinions on Colt Vs Rock River Arms.

The value for the Colt Match Target Lightweight is the most important thing I would like to know. Thanks, again

You are welcome.  Tell me, was the seller asking about in the range of the Book?  A lot of times, on popular guns like an AR, the Book is lower than the market is bringing.  If you don't want to divulge the seller's asking price, I will respect that.

The seller is asking $800. He also has about 15 Colt 30 round magazines. I don't know how many of those he will be willing to throw in at that price but I will try to get as many as possible. At least a couple.

He thought the blue book value was about $900, which was very close because he says it is one of his only guns that has not been shot. I trust him because I have bought 5 new guns from him. It does show some normal wear from just being lugged around.

I had my heart set on the Rock River Arms Elite Car A4 but this deal seemed to good to pass up. I really wanted a flattop so I already went out and bought a 20 inch Colt Hbar with a 9:1 twist. I got the Colt upper for 500. The RRA was going to cost me 900 + 55 for an upgrade to a stainless steal barrel with 8:1 twist. So some how now I have put myself in a position where I am going to spend 1300+ on a Colt instead of the RRA but I will have an additional upper. What your opinion on the Colt Vs the RRA. Like I said I am new to the AR platform so I would really appreciate your opinion. Thanks.

I know you are talking about the whole rifle, but the specs on the lower will determine how desireable it is.   When this gun was made, was a transitional period.

Sorry I misunderstood your question... to answer your question: I don't know. What is it that I need to look for.

Above the safety, there might be two large pins that hold the sear block, if so this is not as dersireable.

Being the lower is made in 1997 it probably is not drilled for a pushpin.  There is a ridge below the ejection port on the lower.  If this ridge has a small hole drilled in it, then your lower is drilled for a pushpin.

Thanks for answering, sounds reasonable, but I would defer to Mr. Ryan's expertise regarding the push pins, etc.  For me, I'd take a Colt over a RRA.  Even though Colt kinda confuses me with the variety of nuances they have done to the AR platform.  I am not informed enough on it, but subscribe to the old rule of ABC's of AR's (Armalite, Colt, Bushmaster) can't go wrong.  I am a Bushmaster buyer myself, just bc I started with them and know the people at the customer service level have always been there for me right down to the lock washer.

Having an additional upper is by no means a hinderance.  When time and money allow you are halfway home to building a whole new rifle.  You would probably find yourself seeking an additional upper or barrel assembly in no time anyway.  That is half the fun of Ar-15's, building you own.  Even though it is a lot like leggo's.  To many, it is an accomplishment to be a little proud of, as you will see.  Good luck.

I bought the gun and it is a buty. There is not two large pins above the safety and the front pin is a screw instead of the pushpin. Right below the ejection port there is a tiny hole, the flap from the ejection port covers this up, does this mean I can replace the screw with a pushpin. I am going to try and post some pictures tomorrow. Thanks for all of the help.
