I'm in the process of building an AR for myself, but want a very specific type of upper and I don't know what it's called!! The top rail aligns almost like a monolithic, but in fact is two seperate pieces.

I thought this was a GG&G Dominator, but it clearly isn't, yet carries many of the same features (MAD, Gas Block, etc) but the forend extends OVER the (excuse the ignorance if I have the wrong name) delta ring..

I.E.

the top is a free float GG&G, the lower one is a handguard replacement which still uses the delta and handguard cap

Uhh, are you saying you want a free-float with an uninterrupted top rail and that you want to avoid the non-free-float drop in rails?

Look up Samson rails, Midwest Industries, Daniel Defense, etc.

Yes! Thank you both!

Free-float it is, then. Thanks for the manufacturer's suggestions as well. I was originally dead set on a S.I.R. but once I got to molest one in person they just don't "feel right" to me.
