| I got a new bushmaster m4 .It came with a 5.5 inch flash supressor and I've never seen one like it before,just on bushmasters website under barrels .Could someone tell me about it.It seems everyone on the forum has the smaller supressor on their rifles. |

If it is an 11.5" barrel with a 5.5" perm. attached flash suppressor you get the down sides of an SBR (loss of velocity) without the benefits of an SBR (shorter OL length). Some folks think they look cool and other folks are more interested in function over form. If I'm not running an SBR, I much prefer the smaller flash suppressors. SBRs are not legal in Alabama unless the upper is on a full-auto lower. So, you can't pay the $200 SBR tax and swap flash suppressors. If you are near Birmingham, the_beer_slayer is hosting a big shoot at the FOP range on May 5th. Lots of good folks will be there with cool toys.
