Why do all my uppers wobble like a drunken sailor?
I have two Mega lowers and a new POF gen one.
BUT on my buddies STAG lowers they as tight as a frogs ass.

I'm at a loss?

Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did the AccU-Wedge + three bore patches folded under the accu-wedge.
still a bit of wobble.

They shoot fine.
But I am trying to find out whay they wobble.
I know some people on this board are going to say get over it.
That ok I just need to know why the wobble?

You might try one of these JP Tension Pins if the acc-wedge does'nt get the job done. 75% of the people here would just say screw it , it doesnt effect accuracy. Personally i cant stand the wobble, fortunately the accu-wedge worked for me(CMT uppers/DPMS lowers)

Not exactly sure why their wobbly, sloppy tolerances on the uppers would be my guess since your using quality lowers(since i doubt you have 3 lemons). What kind of uppers are you running?

They wobble because the fit between the upper and the lower is not tight enough.  Manufacturing differences, maybe the takedown and pivot pin holes in your lowers are worn, etc.

But they'll shoot just fine.

No 7 O ring on the front lug and it won't wobble

Try an RRA.  Mine, even after 6,500rds is tight as a ................................

Well, lets just say there isn't any wobble.

All my issued military M16s had play between the receivers.  It doesn't change the way they shoot, and it has nothing to do with accuracy.

The more wobble there is, the better and more precise the rifle shoots.

+1, If you don't want any wobble, get a RRA lower.  I have a complete bushy M4 and there is wobble.  I have a RRA lower and had a RRA upper, there was no wobble.  Now I have a CMT upper on a RRA lower and still no wobble.
Sometimes new RRA rifles require a hammer to tap out the takedown pins until you put some rounds through them to loosen them up a bit.

My issued M4 in the IDF had wobble between the receivers (and it was a Colt; imagine that).  There is nothing wrong with the rifle.  I now own three complete LMT rifles and an LMT/Bushmaster mutt.  There is a bit of play in them too, but not nearly like my worn, issue weapon.  I have heard that Stag and RRA are machined a bit smaller in the lower receiver.  This makes them very solid-feeling, but a bitch to assemble.

I tried the oring on the front lug and it makes a HUGE difference.  and it doesn't screw up the buffer/bolt carrier alignment.  the slop should make no difference in function, but it is annoying.  just buy a box or two from lowes.

O-Ring = Cheap, effective fix for the loose upper/lower

I built two AR's for my sons.  Superior Arms lowers and RRA uppers.  The fit is as tight as could be.  Just finished another one for me, MEGA lower and CMMG upper and we have wobble.  Go figure.  I'm living with it since it shoots fine.

Cheers,

RS

What uppers are you using with those Mega lowers? I have several Mega lowers and all use Mega uppers, and all of them are tight with no wobble.

The Lauer lower and LMT upper I had a little while back had a lot of play.

Using Mega uppers and CMT uppers.
I'm going to try the O-ring on one of them.

I have all COLT and RRA lowers and not a single one is loose when mating to my mostly COLT uppers.

That is interesting. The all Mega's that I have were tight to the point of being a pain to push the takedown and pivot pins. The pins have worn in and work nicely now, but the upper to lower fit is still tight.

Would you like to trade?
I can push my pins out with no effort at all.
Actually, I just orderd two Stag that should be tight to the point of hammer and punch.

You can have the upper and lower epoxy bedded. Arrington Accuracy does it for $25 according to their website.

The JP pin is the fastest way to open up your holes and ruin your recievers.

People buy these things and crank on them.  These pins belong in the trash.  If one comes across my workbench, it gets shitcanned.
