I got out to the hills today to shoot my new AR.

The specs on the gun

Stag A2 lower.  Factory trigger group.

CMMG 20" 1/7 twist flattop.
YHM 5C1 flash hider
Clark carbon fiber handguard

Ammo used
200 rounds Federal XM193
300 rounds 55gr UMC FMJ
60 rounds Wolf polymer 62gr FMJ

Three 30 round C-Product mags
one NHMTG 20 round mag
one NHMTG 30 round mag
No mag issues.

Weather, partly cloudy with sun breaks

The objective.  The evil terrorist clay pigeon.

Easy to get on target with irons.  I like the A2 sights a lot.  Took a couple of shots to get things dialed in.  Shot at 50 and 100 yards.  Busting up clay targets fairly quickly.  Shot-to-shot transition is easy with virtually no recoil.
Trigger is medium heavy.  Reset is very short.  Easy to shoot doubles, triples etc.  Great for multiple targets.

Now for the optics part of the post.  Scope snobs should leave now.
Put on my big Trashco varmint scope.  6.5x24x42, mildot reticule, target knobs AO etc.
Robbed off my cheep NEF 17HMR.

Looks like this

This scope turns this gun into a tackdriver.  I shot over 100 rounds at 6.5x until I ran out of clay targets and popcans.  Range was about 80-100 yards depending on the clay target.  I just throw the things out at random and blaze away.
I shoot off the top of the car.  No bipod  or bags.  After blasting all the clay targets. I went after individual chunks until I had the scope up to 24x chasing dime sized chunks.
I found that 16X is about the limit.  Blast from the flash hider starts showing up in the scope under rapid fire.
Trashco makes a version of this scope with a thin recticule and 1/8" clicks.  Hmmm

No issues with either the XM193 or UMC ammo.  All ran clean and shot well.
The XM193 was a little hotter than the UMC.  I'll have to camp out on Outdoor Marksman's door so I can get more of the XM193.

Wolf was another matter.  I ran the first two boxes through a 20rnd mag with no issues.  Towards the end I loaded up a mag with UMC, XM193 and Wolf at random.
The first Wolf round jammed the gun requiring disassembly to fix.
I got a screwdriver and pried the carrier out.
The round had fired.  I guessed a dirty gun and not enough lube.  I forgot to bring any CLP or ATF.  I rummaged around in the trunk and found an empty jug of Havoline 10-30 Synthetic motor oil.  Got a fingerful, lubed up the upper, carrier etc. and fired the rest of the mag without incident.
Note to self.  Wolf is underpowered.  Bring ATF and lube often if shooting Wolf.

Things I noticed.
Whoever said carbon fiber doesn't get hot is full of it.  That tube got hot.  The smoke rolling out of both ends would have made a great pic.  If I get into some extended shooting sessions, either gloves or paracord wrapped around the tube will be mandatory!

I'll have to install a rail for a bipod.  This gun\scope combo screams for a bipod.
The Larue SPR 1.5 mount works as advertised.  Had it on/off three times with no loss of zero or accuracy.
Same with the carry handle.
A sling for offhand shooting is needed.

I can't wait to get some heavy bullets loaded up to take advantage of the 1/7 twist.

I've got one of these here and one reserved at the gunstore.

I think I've descended into the dark world of AR madness.  That's the most fun I've had shooting for a long time.

There is an article on Old Painless' website about brass cased ammo jamming after Wolf. I have never had it happen to me, but his explanation makes sense.

They are impressive rifles, the guys I let borrow one at the range are always shocked, thinking that their bolt guns with the cheap skinny barrel are the height of accuracy

The multiple brand test is something I do with all my new semi auto gun rifle or pistol to test reliability.

I didn't know about the Wolf following brass issue.

I'll try to run that article down.  Do you have a link?

I was shocked at just how accurate that gun is.  It looks like it could give my 17HMR a serious run.

However, I won't know until I've done a few thousand rounds of research

Thanks

It's somewhere on here, but it was brass jamming after wolf that was the problem

I'll keep looking for more info.

I can't see myself mixing Wolf with any other ammo too often.  It shouldn't be a problem.

Wolf shot fine by itself.  With the price of ammo nowadays, I'll be shooting LOTS of Wolf at plinking sessions.

Thanks
