Little help guys. Looking to pick up my first AR. Here's what I'm looking for: -something of reputable brand and quality (company with honorable warranty) -16" barrel (not sweating lining too much) 1/9 twist -flat top receiver -front and rear flip sights -suited for 5.56 -quad-rail (but can get later if need be) -tactical stock -just for plinking on the weekends and home defence 24/7 -looking to spend ~$1000 out the door (or just a shade over) I've been eyeing RRA and just recently got their catalog. They've got a nice set up for their CAR A4. Their lifetime warranty is a major plus but I'm open to other suggestions. I'm all ears... Thanks |

The Smith and Wesson M&P15-T comes with all of that, I believe they're selling for around 1100-1200. To put the rails and the flip ups on a gun will cost you at least that or more. The M&P15-T is a nice rifle, I handled one the last time I was at the fun store I go to. Very lightweight. I was surprised. |
| CMMG, all the way get it how you want it and since you posted as your number one thing a reputable company they are exactly that. Plus you price range is perfect for it. Might i ask why you want a 1/9 twist exactly, and you def want a chromelined barrel. ETA they also offer a lifetime warranty. I would wait on the quad rail, as you 1. need to learn to shoot without it and get used to the rifle, 2. You might find out you dont really need or want one, since there are other mounting options for lights and what not. |
