| is loctite necessary for mountin all accessories? is blue the recommended? |
Blue loctite is the way to go. As far as "not required for quality accessories" here is a list of things that have come loose on my ARs due to vibration from shooting/rattling around in the trunk: Pistol grip Telestock castle nut ARMS #40 lock nut KAC FF 7.0 Rail Retaining Collar 1" low-mount Millet rings This list would probably be longer except that at some point, I wised up and just started applying blue loctite to damn near anything with threads (the one exception being the receiver extensions). Now if you go to the range 4 times a year and shoot about 150 rounds every time, you probably won't see these problems for a very long time, if ever. However, if you track your shooting by how many cases of ammo your burn through a year, then you will eventually experience this problem if you aren't using some means of stopping threaded parts from rotating loose due to vibration. |
