I just got my AR the other day and I didn't get the front site becasue I was planning on getting a flip up one.. However, I was looking at some AR's on this site and around the net and I was wondering... If I was to get a scope for my AR, do most scopes need a front site or not? Thanks! |

with that AR you do have alot of options. you need to decide what your are going to do with it. if it is just for the range, you can put a scope on it, (if that is the type of shooting you like to do) there are a lot of opinions out there on the best set up. if it is for moderate ranges, like 100 yds and less, on my rifle I have an aimpoint non magnified optic with flip up back up iron sights. this is also my home defense rifle. if the batteries go dead its nice to be able to still aim. for my longer range set ups I have a 4.5-14 leupold scope. I do not have back up iron sights on this rifle. it is only for plinking at longer ranges and I do not use it for much else. on one of my rifles I have an Acog 4 power scope. I do have back up iron sights on this rifle because my acog is mounted with a QD mount. I do enjoy using irons once in a while on this rifle. Ultimately you need to decide |
No, scopes have no need for a front sight. You cannot use a front sight through a scope, even a 1X scope. |
