I have recently blown the cob-webs off my Colt Target Competition HBAR post ban - it sat in my gun safe for perhaps the last 10 years waiting to join the ranks of my varminting bolt rigs.  It's in great shape with round count <50.

So, besides good optics, a decent trigger and a free-float hand-guard w/ bipod - does a Colt 20" HBAR (1/9) cut it for accuracy vs. an aftermarket bull barrel? Desire is to get sub-MOA results w/ handloads.  I'm okay with jumping thru the hoops of trying the stock barrel then upgrading if results are less than desired, but would appreciate knowing if I'm wasteing my time.

Thanks in advance for the input.

You will most likely be surprised by the COLT barrels. They are often "very" accurate, especially the Comp. Match HBAR's. Sub MOA accuracy is likely. YMMV

Even with cheap surplus ammo, I get decent accuracy through my Colt 6700 HBAR (20", 1/9).  It's a hell of a barrel.

My most accurate barrel (till it heats up) is a Colt 6520 Barrel.
