i use militec and they claim by heating or ''baking'' it on, a molecular bond is formed. may or may not be true. but i put militec on my BCG, i bake it on then once it dries i put some slip 2000 oil over it or BF oil, when i clean my bolt i use Slip 2000 Carbon killer, will slip 2000 CK strip off the militec? i know it will strip off the top layers of oil (the slip or w/e oil i use) but since the militec is ''bonded into the metal'' do you think the slip carbon killer will be taking it off? ETA: also for the slip 2k carbon killer users, after you soak your bolt do you apply lube directly do it or do you use alcohol to neutrilize and clean off the carbon killer? i dont know about you but after i wipe off the bolt i feel a film/residue from the carbon killer, is that ok? |

I actually don't know. I would think it would strip it off. I just use Mil tec 1 as a lube with out baking or heating. I clean anough and use good lube in the first place. I do use Hoppes solvent on the bolt alot. All I do is let it soak. Toothbrush and wipe off .Then spray with Aresal BreakFree CLP and let it sit, then wipe it off. Relube. WarDawg |
that part makes no sense, i use the same lube as you, same technique too. maybe some differently solvents but some may argue that slip 2k CK is better then number 9 |

Checkout a product called MOLY-FUSION, it's a permanent layer that is silk smooth. Also checkout EezOx cleaner that stuffs great too "I have a bigass jug of it" I line my 10/22 barrels and aluminum actions with moly fusion, you have to use sand paper to get it off! |
What is it with you and lube these days? |
yea used vaseline. stays on longer. |
Nice! |
It's a rifle. Quit worrying about this stuff and go shoot it. It is NOT a piece of fine china. |
| I like ONE Lube in a red can, made by Slick 50.Doesnt seem to hold dirt and stays on excellent. And, you can always tell where it is.After sliding around my truck on coyote hunts every morning, its still on there after 2 weeks of intense hunting. The product stays on well, doesnt harm anything , is cheap, and, you get it at Atwoods. |
