If I am selling a Rifle FTF whjat procedures do I have to follow?

I bought this from a Dealer so as far as the state knows I own the Rifle. If I just hand it over to someone how do they know it is no longer in my possesion?

I'm not familiar with CT's firearm laws, but to protect yourself I'd take it to a dealer and have it legally transfered. It may cost a couple of bucks, but if he wants it badly enough he'll pay for it.

Try asking in the Hometown forums.

If there's no specific regulations that you must transfer it via a FFL, just write up a bill of sale.  1 for each of you to sign, listing the weapon and serial number.  If you don't personally know the person you are selling to, you may want to see some ID just so you know the name that you are putting on the bill of sale is real. Also, put a disclaimer on the bill of sale that the buyer should have it inspected by a gunsmith before shooting.

Someone in the hometown helped me out. It is not required but their is a form I can voluntarily fill out.

Any proof that I no longer own this firearm is important to me. Just in case something were to happen, the state wont think I still own it.
