Would the PRi Gas Buster Charging Handle be pointless on a Piston driven upper?

Being that no gas is deposited into the Chamber/Receiver?

you still get blow back with a suppressor.

What about just shooting straight barrel without (suppressor)? would it still be effective or am I offbase here?
