Anyone have any experience with the HK mags? Are they worth the money? |
|
i've heard a couple complaints that might be attributed to the HK mags...but mostly, i hear great results they are a little heavier, but worth the weight w/ the steel body; others have simply suped up the USGIs--magpul followers, floorplates and duracoats to match the features of HKs personally, the USGIs are the better value and they work fine and are durable enough for me--5 USGIs for 1 HK, well i would rather have the 5 |
Where does one find these "USGI" Teflon mags? Oh, wait, they don't exist. |
fit and finish? ![]() it's a magazine if it goes in, the fit is fine. if it has some grey finish on it, woopie. they are going to wear down with use anyway. i paid like $10-11 each for new c-products mags. aluminum body, marlube finish, magpul followers, chrome silicon spring. i've run all of them with 30rds and haven't had a single FTF. |

My department's head firearm instructor specifically states H&K Maritime GENII mags are the best. He is currently getting a new policy stating for those who carry ARs, have to use the HK mags. I have 4-5 mags, and they are simply awesome. No problems with them, at all. |
thats a pretty dumbass policy. the HK mags are better if you have too much money in your pocket weighing you down. otherwise the aluminum mags are lighter and more reliable. |
| I have both and I liked both equally. I ran 8 of the HK's and about 10 normal aluminum mags at a Tactical Response fighting rifle class in October. All the mags were filled with mud and after having to take apart all of them i'll NEVER buy another aluminum mag again. The HK's are ALOT easier to take apart when compared to the standard aluminum mags with magpul ranger plates and followers. After taking the class my aluminum ones will remain as cheap backup mags and my hk's will be the main ones I use for anything. |
Thats fine. It is only my opinion. But it is true....And I know that when I load my mags the 20 or so standard ones with the unfinished edges begin to wear on my thumbs....never had that issue with the well finished HK ones. Of course 40 bucks a mag for some is hard to swallow

| I have one that someone gave me for free(!!!!!), and its by far the nicest mag I have ever handled. The fit and finish is superb, the follower literally rides on rails, and it will take all 30 rounds nicely. I am going to have to invest in some of these once I am finished setting my AR up! |
Not a dumbass policy when your life depends on the rifle going bang each time you pull the trigger. His head instructor just cares enough to make sure the very best is issued, so guys come home safe every night. I only carry HK mags on duty. They have never failed me. |

Gentlemen, Can anyone confirm to me, the existance of HK 20 round magazines???? I have read numerous accounts of guys stating that they have seen the HK 20 rounders, but so far I have still not yet confirmed this. ???? Can anyone help??? I would also LOVE to find out that HK made several different style mags in 20 and 30 round, but so far I've only seen the curved, black (teflon?) finished 30 rounders... ????? Anyone got some info ??????? Thanks so much. |
Yep and depending on manufacturer i reject as many as 40% of mags for that reason. (Dont drop free). With HK mags, 100% that i have received are drop free. The "fit" part of fit & finish is better because they use a tighter acceptable tolerance range. |
Kicker is they are probaly using shit grade AR's. Plenty of mags run reliably other than Hk.

I have several. Its kind of like the AK ver AR debate. Quality at a cost or quantiey cheap. Very awsome mag. Very relible. And well bult. If you stop to think I have payed. $40 plus for M1A mag's in .308 and AR10 mag's They are not that expensive. I have them For the SHTF siution. But I also have 30-40 US GI std 30rd. That work fine. And I use a lot. Down side is extra weight. I also have British SA80 steel mag's nice. But on the same par. Of a std. US GI mag. Not worth the extra money or weight. Big Plus 1 for HK mag's |
You have never seen a Teflon mag? HK's Rock very nice mag. Just shop around cause some people try and rape you on the price of them. |
Wrong. Sometimes where they tack weld the front of the mag can overlap on teh inside and cause feeding/loading problems. The HK mags are not tack welded like the USGI's and dont have this problem whatsoever. The finish on the HK's looks and feels almost exactly like my D&H black teflon mags I have. |
Me too. ![]() Except we could only get 8. |
