| I got a new Colt BCG, and the operation of the bolt front to back is rather stiff/harsh. Also when I go to insert the bolt it gets to a point where it stops and I have to push pretty hard to seat the bolt all the way in the carrier. I know the gas rings are new and what not, but my other BCG's have had a nice smooth operation since I got them new. I fired about 15 rounds with out any problem but it deffenatly made the action of the gun a lot less smooth. So do you guys/gals think I got a defective part and what would you do? |

My Colt bolt/carriers have always felt “stiffer” than other brands, as if the fit was tighter. But they have never failed, even when new, and loosen up with time. So, my recommendation is to shoot (and enjoy) it, as long as it functions normally, and it should break-in. And welcome to the forum! |

I bought it to keep in my safe "just in case" I need one in the future and can't buy one due to (insert reason here). I wanted to have a new one so I can put it in any one of my rifles that may break one someday. I don't know how versatile they are but now I am thinking maybe I should use one of my used/proven BCG as my backup and put this one in my main rifle to break in and make sure it doesn't have any problems. So if I swap a BCG that has been in rifle A into rifle B C or D some time in the future will that creat a problem. That was the reason for having a new BCG as backup. thanks |
