Two more data points for ya! Bought them several years apart, and I changed the first one's configuration almost immediately. To the best of my recollection, however, the original configurations were identical. ST 0024XX and ST 0029XX, both medium gray; A2 lower; fenced right side (not drilled); large double-screw pivot; standard FCG; no sear block; rollmarked Colt Sporter Target Model and Colt's Firearms Division, Colt Industries. A2 upper; gov't profile barrel, no bayonet lug; Sporter BCG (milled bottom, unshrouded). |
I just picked up my brand new in the box pre ban Colt R6551 serial # 018XXX  . It has the small pin with a drilled magazine fence, large trigger/hammer pins, 1/2 circle bolt carrier, and the blue buffer on the extractor. I'm hoping it's a pre Oct. 1st 1993 AR but she is at least pre ban  .
