Just got off the phone with a dealer to whom I enquired about getting a colt 6520. He told me basically the QC at colt is gone and the new rifles coming in are nothing but an embarrassment (paraphrasing here, but it's roughly the same...) He also said that the rifle was outdated. He told me that my best bet for getting a pencil barrel is through bushmaster...

I really want a 6520 but want to make sure this is not the case. He spoke of crappy park, tooling marks, wide variances in color - i can't justify buying a $1100 rifle and having it like this...

Where's a good place to order a 6520?

Thanks...

(Btw, the dealer is on this board and thus, will not be named...)

If a 6520 is what you want, then by all means get it.
Life is too short, get what you want.

Most likley some thing he has in stock and is way over priced.

So... they should be good to go then?

Any comments on that model that I should be aware of? I have several flat-tops, really want an A2 carbine. This fits the bill perfectly. Besides, I want a pony....

Clyde Armory recently advertised a sale over on Sturmgewehr. They're offering 6520's until Christmas (or while supplies last) for $999 plus shipping ($15, I think). Best price I've seen and Clyde's is good people.

Great gun IMO period. I love mine. As far as being outdated, what a laugh.

I called a dealer on this board because his website still lists Preban Colts.  He immediately told me Colts QC wasnt good and then tried to sell me a RRA.  I then told him why I called (for an older gray finish Colt), then he said they were slightly better, but not up to par with RRA.  I hung up and decided to find my own and here it is.  This rifle has to be my favorite to the many Colts I have owned and the many I still have.  If the newer black color tone bothers you buy and older one and pay the little extra.  I couldnt be happier.

Love my 6520!  I carry it every day.  It's currently my favorite configuration of AR.  I've switched the Reflex II for an Aimpoint ML3 with a 4 MOA dot.

In its normal resting position in the car.

Your dealer is full of crap, I just put a 6520 on lay-away and have two other Colts at home....an SP1 and a 6920....no problems with either....

The finish does seem to be a bit worse compared to the M-4 ones. They seem to be doing a better job then a year or so ago tho. I've bought 10, 4 6920, 2 6721s,2 6520, and 2 6450s, sold two, a 6920 and a 6520, the finish could be a bit nicer on some of them, BUT they also work as advertised. The 9mms are a hoot and cheap to shoot, run 147gr reloads thru them at less then $100 per K. Very accurate with them also. Love to supress one if it becomes legal here.

I hope you secure that rifle in your patrol car!  What would your agency say if someone busted out the window while you were out on a call?  Just a liability issue.

Relax, dude.

As to the 6520, I wouldn't mind owning one--if I could physically look it over before parting with the funds. I could always take off the 16" barrel and replace it with a CMMG 14.7" LW when available....and keep the former around. Too too bad about the silly A2 upper, however. A1 is far superior.

Guess I just want the lower.

Believe it or not, we don't have a way to secure the rifle in the car.  All our mounts were taken out due to an officer being killed by the mount during a relatively minor collision.  So for now it's keep your car locked and let the cards fall where they may.

I wouldn't buy it if there was an A1 upper. I guess that I was taught to use the A2 sights and that'll never come out of me. To each their own... Looks like I'm buying a pony for christmas... Thanks guys...

On a carbine that is going to most likely be used within 300 yards, A2 sights are silly. An A1 upper with a battle sight zero is the big boys set up.

While you're correcting for that 1" drop and 10 MPH cross wind, you are going to take one between the eyes.

Although I never really know what to call it, a Colt 6520 or a M4/6520 or just a Colt LE carbine, I have one of those things and couldn't be happier. I was actually looking at a Bushmaster when I happened upon the Colt at a price I couldn't turn down. Many of the companies these days make very good versions of the AR, but......nothing quite compares to a Colt. The fit/finish are what they should be, Colt quality, and it's functioned 100% in the 1,000 or so rounds that I've put through it so far.
I hope this helps a bit with your potential purchase. As the others have said, that dealer probably doesn't sell Colts.

Yeah...cause everyone here gets shot at all the time....lols... I guess I'll have to take my M4 and shoot the peeps in the face cuz the A2 sights don't work.

Target sights are a little silly on a light barreled carbine. THat might explain why I put a Colt A1 slickside upper on my 6520.
