I want a mid-length gas system carbine and am considering either a CMMG or Armalite. I'm more familiar with Armalite than CMMG. Is CMMG a new manufacturer? Also, I'd be intersted in hearing from anyone that owns one to see how they like it. The only other question I have is pricing of CMMG. Their website shows prices of close to $1100 without upgrading to any premium options. Does anyone know if that is their retail price and if so what is the "street price" of these carbines going for these days. If $1100 is the price, than CMMG will cost about $150 more than an Armalite. I'm looking to spend no more than $1000 tax included so that is why I'm asking. |

Is it that time of the day already? This shit gets asked seemingly every day. Anyway, here is a related topic. Click Me I'm not touching your pricing question. |

My experience with Armalite's customer service has been terrible. My experience with CMMG's customer service has been absolutely fantastic. In terms of quality, I believe they are comparable (both are excellent!) - but CMMG give you far more options, and offers things like MP testing, M4 feed ramps, 1/7 twist, M16 carriers, etc. (if you care about those things) that I'm not sure are as easy to find on Armalite products. Given everything they offer, I don't find CMMG overpriced at all. But that's obviously a question that everyone has to decide for themselves. |

They made a number of mistakes (6), albeit minor ones, on the complete upper and complete lower I got last month. I was disappointed that they let so many errors out the door. As a first time AR buyer, I'm fortunate that this board is around 'cause some of the problems, while obvious to you guys, were not obvious to me. CMMG's customer service has been very good, and unfortunately, I have surely had to put it to the test. |
Nothing major, but in total it became really annoying. They sent me a semi-auto carrier instead of the full-auto carrier I ordered. (sent back the semi which was replaced with full-auto) The Tango Down grip arrived loose and I later got them to send me the installation tool (I didn't have a hex wrench long enough) They didn't include the Accuwedge I ordered. (they sent one with the replacement bolt carrier) The Vltor Rifle modstock accessory compartment was only secured with the mounting hardware on one end (I ordered another set from Vltor) The KNS Gen 2 pins were installed backwards. (they offered for me to ship back the lower, but I just got them to send me the installation tools) On the replacement full-auto carrier, the carrier key was poorly staked (restaked it myself in a vice with a pointed steel punch) I managed to put a scratch on the receiver switching around those KNS pins, not a big deal since this won't be a safe queen anyway, but it did piss me off momentarily. You know how that first scratch on a new car can piss you off. I cursed CMMG when it happened.. which made me grin. he Judging from other people's posts, my experience seems to be the exception and not the rule. Good Luck! |

CMMG will make it right with you. They'll usually include a few extra goodies if you have a problem with they products. I bought a barrel, it came with no FSP, I emailed them and they made it more than right. I buy from them at gunshows and I've been to their shoots. They are all really cool people. |
