| My new Colt 6520LEis markedColt Defense. Has m16 bolt carrier and no block. Beautiful little carbine.......now,I have owned a few past Colt AR's that were marked with Colt Manufactures for a roll mark.......does these two seaparate divisions make the rifles differently? |
|
Ahh great question, I wondered that before. Colt Manufacturing Colt defence |
Do you have to be military/law enforcement to buy a "defence" rifle |
No, it just seems to be luck of the draw with many of their carbines. |
Because there's no spelling aptitude requirement to own a gun. The question should be why do people give a shit about spelling on internet message boards? If you know what they were trying to say...why bother with a correction? |
| The company was separated into two different ones to limit overall liability. The Colt Defense LLC supplies the Government and Law Enforcement agencies. The Colt Manufacturing is primarily for the civilian market. Just lawyer legal maneuvering if class action lawsuit's happen from the left wing socialists. |
If it were just TYPOS or any other word... No biggie... shit happens. It's like this moron who was posting here a year or two ago about his extensive martial arts training and how he was an instructor for years. Yet the dumb fuck didn't know how to spell DEFENSE? ![]() |
Because it makes you look like a moron... I've often thought that there should be an essay question on the 4473 form where the would-be purchaser composes an essay on one of 5 subjects on gun ownership. Spelling and grammar count, and a mimimum score of 70 is required to pass and approve the purchase. Spelling and grammar are related to your amount of education. Poor grammar and spelling, you were most likey poorly educated. Most of the poor spelling i see on boards is a result of being LAZY. Not wanting to go back and correct your mistakes. You know you made a mistake, but you dont care, because you are lazy....Typical attitude in todays world. It is a great source of humor though...I love to laugh...:) KyAKGuy |
I have both Colt Defense and Colt Manf. carbines of the same Model and time frame, the difference is simply the roll mark |
Hang onto it, though, as they say Made in Canada now. |
lol, soon my friend, soon........... |
Check it out...

Holy shit, I thought were joking! |
From this thread. |
Actually, they don't. They are named for the sabre toothed tiger. Just as an aside, "Sabre" is the french word for the english "saber". Bradd, you have brought me much joy with the link to the Diemaco/Colt ARs. I hope I can find one soon. |
Colt sells to distributors, who sell to dealers, who sell to the General Public. I was never aware that COLT sold to the general public in the first place. |
This kind of shit should get you banned. Nobody gives a damn about your "superior grammer skills" Back on topic. The whole Colt don't/won't sell to the general public is pure BS. They are availble for sale all over the net. Just look, instead of bitching like schoolgirls. |
|
Defence vs defense... Commonwealth vs American spelling. For example, in common world "learned" is spelled as "learnt".
|
|
Let me just put it this way then. Of the couple of dozen Gunshops I have been in or called in the last year none had a new Colt and said they could not get them. I bought mine from a Police Supply Store and this particular one will sell to the public also. AS far as the web there is not much you can't get if you look hard enough or willing to pay the price. JR |
Do you think it might be due demand is high and the stores are having problems getting a 'in demand' item? I hear that new video game unit is in the same boat - that doesn't mean Sony (or whoever makes them) isn't selling to the public. |
CavVet (where are you man?) settled this a while back. If you want to end Colt's policy of not selling to civilians, then buy as many LE models as you can. No, I'm not joking. |
That guess will win the prize 99 times out of 100.
|
I think he was referring to the Defence part of "Sabre Defence." |
He does seem rather defincive. |
I've always wondered why gun owners are incapable of putting together grammatically correct sentences. |
In my face. |
Looks like another good reason not to buy a Colt! |
Another implies there was a good reason not to in the first place. |
