I'm interested in installing a geissele dmr trigger to play with. Am I correct in assuming that the crosspiece I have circled is Colt's current iteration of the sear block, and that it must be removed to upgrade the trigger?

If so, could anyone recommend one of the member shops to perform this service. Thanks.

Your assumption may be incorrect. Here is a pic of a Colt lower with a sear block along with a pic of a Geissele trigger installed in an LMT lower. Your "cross-piece" does not come over the safety/selector so I don't see how it's going to interfere with the installation of the trigger.

Colt lowers require the large pin Geissle trigger and it will not fit with the sear block. It's an easy thing to mill it away, there's no "fit" to worry about.

Try ADCO for the work.

My Colt 6400c I purchased in early 2003 has the block just like yours. ADCO quoted me $50 to remove it.

A large pin Geissele trigger will fit into your Colt lower without any problems.
