I've got a RRA CAR-A4 and have since put almost 2,000 rounds through it without a single failure. My bolt carrier group is staked and has the shrouded firing pin but it is semi auto since there is only a small portion at the rear that completes the circle. It has one of those blue inserts with the extractor spring as well. Would it be worth it to upgrade my BCG to say a full auto Colt or LMT? Of course it might sound unnecessary since I have not had any failures yet but I am always looking for ways to increase reliability and quality of the weapon. Also, would the Colt be worth the extra money over the LMT? I have found the LMT going for about $130 and the Colt for $175. www.policesupplyinc.com/prod05.htm ETA - I've already ordered two D-Fender's from Brownells as well. |
No way - an ARFCOMer calling me a gear whore for looking into the possibility of a better BCG! Thanks for the advice man! |
If it's working fine I'd be inclined to say don't mess with it. But if you want insurance, follow Stick's advice above. |
I did that, now I have to spend even more money for a new safe. Then I can fill it up again |
More metal slows down the rate of fire. Not sure the exact history of the Semi/FA divide. |
