Hey all I just went through a few pages of posts but didn't see what I wanted and I'm sure this type of thread is posted everyday.

Anyway, Christmas is coming and I plan on getting myself another AR but am not sure on which one to get.  Right now I have a Colt (20"?) competition target HBAR and a Bushmaster M4gery A3 16".

I don't really have a plan for it other than to have before the next round of bans come but was checking out a friends Bushmaster 16" HBAR and thought that was pretty neat and was going to go that route.  Anyway, my choices are between Colt, Bushmaster and Armalite as I'll be ordering through my gun club and those are the dealers in their catalogs.

I'm thinking about "tricking" out my current Bushmaster and just keeping the Bushy HBAR stock.  Thoughts?

Should I go a different route altogether?  I would like to keep between the manufacturers mentioned to keep my ordering and life simple.  I would have to say that I want to keep a cap at 1,200.00 and for sure want a 5.56

Thanks

Have you spent time on the range with the h-bar? It is definately muzzle heavy( my first was a bushy h-bar, god I wish I would have gotten the M4 upper!) If weight/maneuverability is not of concern go for it.

Good thought on the weight, I'll have to try my buddies out.

I was doing a little digging and found the Bushmaster "modular"

Any good?

When I said tricked out earlier that's what I was thinking for, for starters.  Foldable front and rear sights, rail forearm, etc.

If you can pick up a Bushmaster "modular carbine" for around 1100-1200 it's an OK deal, especially if you don't feel like doing your own upgrading.  Any more than that, and it's definitely not.

I'd say for 1100-1200 get a standard bushy of your choice and add to it what you will. I am not a fan of the modular, but like bushmaster all the same.

The modular has a fluted hbar so it is not very much lighter than a reg hbar. That being said I really like my two buddies modulars. They are great guns and very accurate. If I were you and already had two really nice ARs, I would go with something retro or a very milspecy m4(ie. feedramps and buffertube). Maybe a sbr or somethin. Too much gun goodness.

Stag!

Mine came in today, and it's a real beauty. Solid rifle, no creakiness or loose parts, great finish.

I'll post pics soon as I get a camera.

Ok, so here is a stupid question:

Since most of the other standard AR's come with a fixed front sight, what the heck do you do if you want a, say, Troy front folding sight?

hacksaw?

Punch out the taper pins, take off the FSB, and install either a low profile gas block w/ sight on the handguard rail, a flip-up front sight gas block, or a railed gas block w/ a flip sight on it.

Scrounge up a few more bucks and get a Smith & Wesson M&P-15T.

Ok, cool, good to know that I can get whatever and deal with that down the road if I feel like it.

Thanks

How are the reviews on these?  How about the Sig's?

Get you a 16 inch bushie and trick it out. I have the 16 inch Hbar and love it. I also have a 16 inch m4orgery from S&W. My favorite is still my Rock river which you can buy tricked out. I think today was the last day of a big sale Rock River had. They offered it to dealers but mine passed it on.

I've heard plenty of good things about them. Mainly that they were built by Stag. By Sigs do you mean the Sig 556? It's the civvie version of the rifle the Swiss government gives all of it's citizen-militia, so it must be fairly good. I haven't even seen one in person though.

Yeah, the Sig 556, I haven't seen one either other than on their site.

Alright, I'll probably go with another Bushmaster, I'll look at the "book" and see what they have.

Thanks

If COLT is on the list I personally would jump at the chance to score a 6920 or Colt's piston design.

Hey all, I just got back from my club and most Bushmasters were around 830.xx and the Colt 6920 was listed at 1069.xx, is that a good price for the Colt that everyone raves about?
