I just got in my Bushmaster barrel assemble. Putting on the flash hider w/ crush washer on hand tight the flash hider is about 1/8 of the way past the correct time. I guess I will have to file down the crush washer a bit and get it snug with about 1/4 turn till correctly timed then torque it the rest of the way w/ a wrench.

Is this the correct way or what?

Thanks looking for input...Billy

Keep turning it.  A "crush" washer will crush (compress), so it can be timed.

If you don't want to torque your barrel that much, you can pre-squeeze the crush washer in a vice to get it closer to the proper thickness and then tighten it up on the barrel the last little bit.

Just turn it till it all lines up.

Keep the file away from the washer

Or just use a peel washer instead of a crush washer.

I couldn't pre-squeeze my crush washer in my vice so I light/medium tapped it flatter with a hammer. Just watch your fingers
