I did mine by inserting the smallest jewelers screwdriver into the groove on the pin and depressing the detent. If you don't have a tiny jewelers screwdriver you could possibly use the pointy end of a small finishing nail. It's a bit tricky but it can be done.

I've used a plastic toothpick in the past and it worked well.

Now I have only three rifles that use the standard pivot pin and all three of them have Stag/CMT lower parts kits. All three of those pivot pins have a small hole drilled through them so you can insert a straightened paper clip, or some such small thing, and depress the detent and spring. When pushed down far enough you can rotate the pivot pin 90* and pull it out. Watch for flying detents and springs though.

It sure seems that if all AR's/M16s aren't like this they ought to be.

Thanks a lot for the info. You rigth Bumblebee there is a small hole on the back of the pin.

It was real easy to remove the pin that way.

The easiest and field expediant way is to use the leg of the hammer spring and insert it in the front hole on the pin.
