Question number 1: Is the the one millionth post of this type? - sorry guys Anyway - Is there a link, or other that can give me do's/don'ts when threading a barrel for a flash hider - and to be sure - Is there any no/no to doing this to a ban era barrel? - I jumped the gun the other day and bought a ban era barrel online before verifying it was threaded. No biggie - But like the upper its on, etc - Unless this is very very crucial, I'm probably equiped to do the threading - or am I - Anything I may be overlooking? - If not, what are the thread pitches of the FH's - Thanks |

Do: Turn down the barrel to 0.496" for 0.620" long. Thread with a single-point cutter in a lathe to a finish PD of 0.475" using thread micrometers. Support the barrel with a live center shoved into the crown Chase the threads with a thread file to make them nice and smooth Re-chase the threads with a scoth-brite pad so there are no sharp edges Re-crown afterwards to remove damage from live center above Re-finish with touch-up bluing Send it to a professional if you are not equipped to follow the steps above ![]() Do NOT: Try to thread with a die |
