[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Bushmaster DCM upper - Round design handgaurds

Can they be added, and if so? - Meaning could the handgaurds that come on these be replaced with the tube style like on a varmit, or similiar upper?

I understand that the barrel is designed differently on the DCM rifles.

If it's a no problem thing, then what, and where would I buy to do the transformation?

Do you mean the float tube or the actual plastic guards?
The float tube is intecrated with the barrel nut.
The plastic guards are slightly modified to fit the float tube.

The barrel is the same, just a unique barrel nut and float tube assy. If you want to install one of the high speed-low drag rail systems or an aluminum tube style free floater it will come with the proper barrel nut to mount it up. It would seem your best bet is to find a good AR smith in your area and consult him.

Not neccessarily. Some come with barrel nuts, some don't.
Some clamp around a standard nut.
