How are you liking a long(ish) barrel 6mm arc setup? IMO, it seems like literally the perfect round for an SPR type of ar15 build. I'd love to hear your experience with your setup and how it's been going.

Yes, that is a 18" Noveske 6ARC barrel.   There is a thread in the semi-auto precision rifle section of the forum on 6ARC barrels where me and a few others have posted our experiences and groups.   It truly is everything its been hyped up to be.....if you don't have one already, I'd highly recommend getting into 6ARC.

My new 2-gun/run and gun rifle.  Kinda Recce

Closer to completion. Still pondering a set of KAC irons just because this rifle is heavily Mk12 inspired. I’m also budgeting for another RMR to go on top of the Badger C1 mount, but it’s coming along! Also, I went ahead and did the filing on the rear of the rail so that the KAC panels lock in correctly now. Little thing, but it was driving me crazy. They don’t look super professional or anything, but they’re covered by the panels anyway.

So I just weighed my recce, with everything on it with no mag and no sling, is almost 10 pounds.

Is that normal for a recce to weigh as much? Or do I need a new scale ?

True. I'm in the process of building two 18" trash can guns now. I wish I'd done one in 6 arc.

Thanks man! It's really not a known fact, but this was made just before they sold all of their lathes and started making skate boards. Now they buy their blanks from BA instead of pac-nor and use squirt guns to hand finish the bores.

John Noveske himself measured every bead used to bead blast the barrel.

Slightly off topic, but how's the March 1-10x? Working on a 6.8 Reece Rifle and this is one of LPVO's I've looked at for it.

That's the plan, eventually. I'll have to play with it on things I have until I can either afford to buy one outright or piece one together.

I can’t decide between the LT-204 or some Nightforce rings and the YHM riser

My other two Recce style backup carbines the one in front a midlength lightweight 16" mil-spec CMV barrel Colt model CR6960 I posted in this pic thread back in 4/30/2022 several pages back.

The carbine at the rear is a Colt LE6920-EPR M4 gov't profile barrel 16" with Centurion Arms 13.5" M-LOK rail system, B5 Bravo SOPMOD coyote tan stock and B5 coyote grip.

Both have high 1.9" Warne optic mounts and with 1-6X24 LPVO Sig Sauer Tango MSR & Swampfox Arrowhead (affordable models).

The midlength carbine in front of the top picture have this Geissele Super 3 gun S3G trigger that I tested with my Lyman digital trigger gauge at average pull weight of 2.5 pounds.

The M4 carbine at the rear of the top picture have a Geissele G2S standard 2 stage trigger that tested at average of 3.5 pounds pull.

This is my oldest actual RECCE carbine with a midweight contour barrel blank from Rock Creek Barrels, contoured, chambered 5.56 NATO and assembled by Compass Lake Engineering (FL) and I assembled it myself using my tools, also installed a LaRue Tactical picatinny rails 9.5 inch free floating handguard.

I'm using a Swampfox Arrowhead illuminated reticle 1-10X24 MPVO with Warne 1.5" normal height QD lever mount and Knight's Armament Micro 200-600M folding BUIS.

Furniture is B5 Systems enhanced SOPMOD FDE stock and B5 grip (more upright angle).

B5 Systems have now grip plugs so the grips could be used as small storage like batteries and small parts, etc. I have the B5 grip plugs on all my grips, available in different colors.

I posted it with more components info back in 2/27/2022.

Man when you lose that stock and switch to geissele handguard it feels a different animal. Even with thinner profile barrel it is still a heavy rifle

This thread has a ton of awesome looking rifles in it...!! It has me wanting to turn my Mk12 Mod 1 into more of a Recce.

>SNIP....

ETA:  After A LOT more research on dwell time... I now realize the error of my ways!!! I'll just start looking for a new barrel..

Will I have trouble (feeding/reliability-wise,etc..) if I have the 18" rifle-length gas Mk12 barrel cut down to 14.5"?  I'll be P/W'ing an SF FH and using it suppressed 95% of the time if that matters.

Is there any manufacturer that makes a 14.5" rifle-length gas barrel?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/comments !

Personally, I’d keep the mod 1 as-is and build a RECCE from scratch. But that’s just me.

The die has already been cast...

I already sold my OPS, Inc. brake and collar.  Also I want something compatible with my Surefire RC2.  Not getting an AEM5, etc.

Not sure if it fits in here:
Selling the 20” hbar so I moved the Vortex PST to the 16” hbar.
I like the feeling of this setup.. hopefully I’ll find the right ammo for some mid range shootings.

Trying the razor on the 300blk, thinking about selling the exps3/vortex micro3x that's usually on it for a steiner p4xi or maybe a TA33.

Edit: though this was the mini recce thread my bad.
