I picked up my CMMG complete lower yesterday. The Tango Down Battlegrip has a slight front to back wiggle. This is my first AR so I was wondering if that's normal or not. ?? Is there a way to tighten it up? The wiggle isn't much but it bugs me..I guess I could get used to it. FWIW, I also got a Vltor A1 length riflestock....very nice, I like it a lot! JR |

With the TD grip, I like to tighten it down using a wrench on the Allen key as a lever, for a couple turns after I make sure that it's fully "hand tightened". I have heard of people complain about a gap between the TD grip and the trigger guard and "ears" of the lower receiver where the trigger guard mounts. I think that the reason for this gripe with the TD grip in particular is the Allen key required to screw in the grip. With other grips, you can use a long screwdriver with a nice handle, and get a lot of torque on it. With the Allen key included with the TD grip, however, you have a very small surface to grasp, and can't really get a lot of torque on the screw. This means people may not be fully tightening the screw, and the grip is not fully and properly pressed up against the lower receiver. I like the Allen screw because it won't strip, and I really like that TD includes the proper Allen key, but this is the drawback. |
| Actually, it doesn't have anything to do with the allen key required. It has to do with manufacturing tolerance differences in parts. For example, I have TD grips on both of my ARs. The grip fits snug against the trigger guard on my RRA lower, but there is a small gap on my Bushy lower. Could be the receiver, could be the grip, could be a combination of both. |
