The on thing that annoys me about the AR15 is the sound of the recoil spring every time I fire a round. This is really detracting from my enjoyment of the AR platform of rifles especially after going to the range with an AR15 and a Daewoo MAXII. they both shoot great but the daewoo in the end is more pleasant to shoot because there is no rattle when you shoot. Now, I saw in a Bushmaster catalog. A device which appears to me would solve this problem. It looks like a piston that takes place of the buffer in the tube. Is this the case? Does this also need a spring? Will it work with semi rifles? Will it eliminate the rattling noise when I fire my ar. If I cannot fix this my ARs will go into long term storage and my Daewoo wil take center stage for me. After all they both use the same mags and ammo.

You still need a spring.

You have got to be kidding me.  That beautiful noise actually bothers you enough to shelve your AR?  Sell those defective guns to me.

The noise is a beautiful thing.  It lets you know when you're mag is empty.  It let's you know everything is A-OK.

If it really bothers you, you can grease up the spring and buffer.  You'll have to clean them more often to de-gunk them, and it is not recommended, but it will take away alot of the twang.  Also, the noise lessens considerably with use.

Consider it a mag change indicator.

Lube the spring and buffer well and the noise goes away.
