Sorry if this has been beat to death here... I normally hang-out in other sections of this site.

Got a friend who wants a good rail system for his carbine Bushy. (I only have the 20" Bushy, so I haven't educated myself on rail systems yet.) He'd like not to have to break the bank on this setup. So the cheaper the better. What would you guys recommend?

Thanks!

If you want a nice rail system look into the midwest industries free floats.

I use and recommend the AMS Machine.  The pictures are not correct, but gives you an idea (new pictures coming).  It's a free float rail system that allows you to retain the delta ring.  So, you're buddy can just pop off his handguards, place the locking collar on and then the rails mount to it.

It's a true free float system, unlike other replacement handguards.  Contact Tom or Martin and they'll take care of you.

There are a lot of good rail systems out there. A.R.M.S., Midwest Industries, Troy Industries, Knights Armament, Surefire, and few others. I would recommend visiting the respective websites and compare features and applications. Money wise, you could spend anywhere from $200 - $400. It depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. Personally, I have an A.R.M.S. S.I.R. system on my SBR and a Troy Industries MRF-C on my M4gery. Both a good quality systems.

If you want the real thing or the standard by which all others are measured...go with the KAC RAS.  You won't be sorry.  Yes, a little more $$$ but better to cry once than to "settle" and cry twice.  You always get what you pay for.

I like the troy industries MRF system. It free-floats the barrel, it's rock solid (I've owned 3 and have zero problems with any of them), it's easy to put on, and it looks cleaner than most of the competitors' designs.

Non-Free Float: YHM, MI, Surefire
Free Float (no special tools skils required): VLTOR CASV-EL, ARMS SIR
Free Float (special barrel nut, tear down of upper required): Daniel Defense, Larue Tactical, PRI

If he just wants a cheap rail to mount a light or VFG, MI or Surefire seem to get really good reviews.
