Ok, this is a dumb question, and yes I read the ammo oracle and I think I understand but I have to ask. I've got an upper comming that is chambered in 5.56. Can I shoot .223 remington with it without trouble? On the ammo oracle it says that some of the millitary stuff may be too hot for a gun chambered in .223 but it never comes out and says it is ok to shoot .223 in a 5.56. Help a confused brother out!

I can't wait to get my gun all together and shoot it!

If it is truly chambered 5.56 then yes you can shoot 5.56 and 223 through it just fine.

Thanks.

It's a sabre defence barrel, 1/7 twist, chrome lined 5.56. I hope it is chambered in 5.56.

.223 wylde=ok for 5.56 and .223
5.56=ok for 5.56 and .223

Just remember you can shoot .223 in a 5.56, but you shouldn't shoot 5.56 in a .223.... so they say anyway, but that is the action to take if you want to be on the safe side.

That is correct.  What matters is what's on the barrel, if you're talking AR's.  The exception is the above noted .223 Wylde chamber.

Back before I knew anything, I fired some M855 through a Rem 700VS.  First clue should have been how hard it was to close the bolt on the round.  When I fired, i was treated to hot gas hitting me in the face; the firing pin punctured the primer and gas flowed through the bolt and out the back.
