I am thinking of having an extra BCG with a spare parts kit for the safe. Is this necessary or am I just wasting money?

Get a spare rifle, esp. if you want to take a class.  It would suck to peen a gas tube and have to sit out because you can't tear it down and rebuild it on your tailgate.

I agree with ASU1911 on this one. I have seen several of those failures, and other failures other than the bolt carrier group that will stop a rifle until you can get it to an armorer.

I wouldn't consider it a waste it you look at your AR15 as a weapon.

I keep meaning to pick up an extra complete BCG but every time $120 appears in my pocket I end up spending it on new AR stuff rather than backups

At least I have an extra bolt.

I end up spending it on ammo inflation.

I would rather spend the $120 on other gun stuff if it is not really needed. Can't make up my mind.

If you only use your AR15 to shoot at the range once in awhile, its a waste.  If you look at it as a weapon, its money spent with a purpose.  A lot of people will never train, or run their weapon enough to need one, and if they do, it will only be sitting at a bench.

Only you know what you do with your weapon.  Only you know if its worth it.

You wont know if its needed or not until your current one breaks (possibly)!

Its just something useful to have in the event yours breaks. If you dont use the rifle for duty or you have something else for home protection it might be wiser to just buy a new one in the event something goes down. If you are doing training or something it might be good to have as well.

Its basically up to you if you want to get one based on your needs.
