I'm looking at buying a BM, but just can't decide on a A2/A3... Anyway, here's my questions: Those of you who have an A3, would you have any trepidation of carrying your rifle buy the handle?
When you remove it & place it back on, how close to zero are you really?

                      Thanks!!

Get an A3, you'll always have the options of mounting optics on it. I carry my A3 by the handle all the time. When you put it back on, just make sure the front of the carrying handle is aligned with the beggining of the rails.

Thanks Cuda. The best I can tell BM uses two thumb nuts to hold the handle on, correct??

A3...if you do something to knock your detachable CH off your receiver, you've got bigger problems to deal with.

Honestly, I can't imagine breaking a detachable carry handle.  Whatever force it would take to break a detachable, I would think the same force would at the very least bend an A2.

Every time I get an A2 I end up regretting it later. You may not think you want optics now, but you probably will eventually.

I got a A2, and have never regretted it!

I have both and I'd say go with the A3. Best of both worlds.

Get a real AR.......get a SP-1 slick side.  I love mine.

A mounted carry handle on an A3 is every bit as tough as a fixed A2. Go with the A3.

If you have more than one AR you shouldn't regret haveing a fixed carry handle.  I for one regret  not keeping at least one of mine "KISS" (no I don't).  So my next build will not be an A2 or A3, it'll be an A1.  I plan on a 14.5" bbl with a perm. attached A2 FS, and an old school stock, simple pistol grip, and CAR handguards.  In fact I'll be at CMMG this weekend and I'm a little concerned that I'll spend some money I don't have.  OH Hell, I only live once and I can't take the shit with me.

I usually carry the rifle by the sling or do the port arms thing. The carry handle works fine but it's easy to accidently point the rifle at someone if you carry it by the handle, and that tends to make people nervous. That's a little nitpicky put I'd rather be anal about safety than be careless.

It could just be me, but I can barely fit my fingers through my factory A3 handle on my LE6920.  I have yet to mount any optics, but I've never even tried to pick it up with the carry handle.

+1

I’ve got two A2 uppered arfs because I wanted them that way; I’ve sold off all the other uppers that were A2.

For now on it’s a field sight upper (M16/A1/C7) or an A3(A4). Absolutely no reason for me having A2s.
