I finally located a brand new Colt AR15 (model MT6731).  The dealer wants $1,500.  When I stated everyone else is listing the gun for about $999 - $500 less - he stated Colt has recently raised their prices.  Is this true.  I realize finding a Colt AR is difficult, but I did not think I would have to put out an additional $500.  I am wondering if the dealer is charging a premium since he has probably the last available brand new Colt rifle available.

Thanks.
Ken

May I suggest Gunbroker.com.  I'd keep the extra $600 to invest in optics and ammo.

That might be MSRP but I wouldn't pay it.

Kdross give the guys at knesekarms.com a call, they usually sell for a decent price.
You local gun shops will always mark them up to make more than a fair buck becasue they know someone will pay the price eventually. Find an FFL who will order on for you for about $25 or so.

Knesek has the AR6721 for $1,115. That's dealer cost plus 5%. I doubt you'll find one cheaper than that.

here a link to their price list. Knesek

Maybe the first 2048 times I heard it?

The next 12,265, it got kind of old.

it's all about timing...

in winter 02, my friend bought a Colt MT6400C for $1100... which wasn't a bad price especially during the ban when in NJ a bushmaster M4gery would pull about the same $$$...

soon after colt went full military production... and the same dealer put in an order for another 40 colt rifles in various configurations...

when colt finally filled the order (april/may 03) i was able to snag the same rifle for $850... and my lower was rollmarked colt defense not colt's mfg or whatever...

since colt's are becoming a rare sight on most dealer's shelves... a lot of them are taking liberty with their pricing... supply and demand...

Fuck Colt.  I like the quality and would even pay more for it, but I don't like their political correctness.  JMHO

And what about LMT? They wont even sell their complete rifles to civilians. period.
You have to buy friggin parts. Admit it, you just want to jump on the Colt hater's bandwagon.

Hey, whatever floats your boat.

Good point, _DR

The "Colt sux 'cause of their politics" argument is lame. It was born out of ignorance, and lives on as a result of it.

+1 on Knesekguns.com.
