Was originally thinking I would go with the DD 9.5" FSP Lite system. However, after a little thought I decided I am going to take off the front sight post and replace it with a folding troy buis/front flip ups. So basically I am looking for a top of the notch continuous free float rail system for my Bushy 16".

Will be making the purchase at the end of this month so if anything new is coming out that would be a viable option as well.

ETA: How does everyone like the new S.I.R system?

I would go back to the Daniel Defense. Even thought its not continous its awesome. My RR came in Friday with one I ordered on it. They are so smooth you could use them without covers. They really finish them off.

Hey, JR, which RR is that?

Its a mid length A4 that I just told them what I wanted on it. SS 1/8 Wylde chambered barrel. YMH gas system with folding sight. DD 12.0 mid length rails. I was surprised when it came with the ladder cover on the rails.  Also have a rear sight that I had to remove as the scope hit it.
Oh and hogue rubber grip.

I recently got my Stag M4 upper w/ DD 9.5FSP and love it.

Amazing piece of work.

Stick with DD as your choice and just get the model that suits your needs. The LITE rails have a continuous top rail.

Get the DD LITE rail, the rail is continuous with the upper.  Just got my CMMG upper with LITE rail, it's awesome.

I debated the rail battle in my head for a long time, and eventually narrowed my choice down to Daniel Defense. Yes, we sell DD, but we sell something like 29 different rails that I could have choosen from. I also made my decision before I was involved with RainierArms.

Daniel Defense has the lightest rails currently available (fact) . They are also one of the highest quality manufacturer of AR15 components currently available (opinion based on running a gun for a living, teaching courses, work with other rails, and to a small degree based off the continuing info provided by some of the people on this board that I trust).

The DD Lite series is what I'm in the process of switching my weapons over to. They aren't cheap, but after abusing the life out of my early DD 7.0 Lite, and knowing the absolute abuse the similar DD RIS II military trial rails have gone through, I am convinced that this is the ultimate rail for my purposes, and I have no question about its durability or quality.

As far as which of the Lite rails to go with, the 9.0, 10.0, and 12.0 Lite series would all work nicely, but I think it would be an individual choice based off what your overall goal is for the weapon. Long rails are obviously a little heavier, but offer more "rail estate" for items you may decide to pick up down the road.

Here are a few pictures of a couple DD Lite railed weapons.

Here is a 16" SS WOA Midlength barrel wearing a DD 12.0 Lite rail.  The feel and balance of this is quite nice, at least to me.

Can the lite version be added to a rifle without taking the barrel off much the same as a Troy? Just dremel off the Delta ring?

No, it is a one piece unit.

That's one of the big selling points to TROY/Samson (Ease of Installation)
We only sell Samson Rails but they should also be up for consideration.  The continuous top rail, 2 piece design for easy installation and barrel cleaning and the price is slightly better.

You can't really go wrong with either rail system and it boils down to personal preference.

One of the reasons I'm sorta iffy on the 9.5 FSP system is because I will be replacing the front sight post with a flip up troy buis/front sight combo. So for that purpose I just feel there are better systems available for my needs, possibly the 9.0 or 12.0 DD lite rails.

Thanks for the pictures/information Stickman. I'll most likely go with one of the DD Lite systems but and still kind of "curious" about the new S.I.R systems. If anyone has some available information or experience with it please feel free to share.

I believe the SIR is still using a non spec rail, which becomes an issue for mounting certain items. I know my VFGs had to all be filed on to fit my SIR.  I have no idea why they are doing this.

I believe you'll only be able to use a rail mounted front flip sight with a bi-level sir. Stay away from the others if you're using the Troy. The front and rears won't line up.

Look's like I'm going back to the DD... Anyone have a DD 9.5" FSP Lite with a flip up front sight mounted?

JOEDAN, check out the PRI rail mounted front sight. I sold my Troy and really haven't regretted it. The PRI uses a standard front post and has a complete ring, making for a very fast sight picture. YMMV

edit to add: I have a Troy 10 inch rail and really like it.

Thats the thing, the FSP is designed to go around the front sight post therefor leaving a gap. So I guess I could go with the 9.0 Lite and get a rail mounted flip sight. I guess I was just curious if it was possible to do it with the FSP since I really like the looks.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing with my 16" barrel setup & I'm going with either the 12" OR 13" Troy Ind. unit. I've owned 2 of their MRF-C rails and they are the cat's ass IMO. I like the continuous rail and the ease of install. They are totally solid. I've looked at all the others but  the Troy makes the most sense to me.

Here are a few DD 9.5 pics, and while they aren't DD 9.5 Lite, hopefully they are of some help.

Why not a POF rail?

The Predator rail was written up as part of the SAR review of the POF piston gun. It looks like a good product. I've just never really seen one or heard any opinions on it.

The POF, Vltor, and ARMs all use a built in riser (except the new SIR).  This creates an issue with certain optics.
