Brownell's box was here waiting on me tonight. 2nd day air that shipped Monday. ![]() You know the usual stuff - MIAD grip, moly grease, HD extractor springs and a FRIGGIN Magazine spring instead of my CS CARBINE BUFFER SPRING that I need to complete a build that was scheduled for some range time in the morning. ![]() ![]() Thanks for listening My question - I have a spare rifle buffer spring, can I cut it to the length of a carbine length spring or is the compression rate completly different and not a wise move at all? thanks for any advice.... Probably best to put the cut end down into the buffer tube, also bevel it a bit not to chew up anything you wouldn't want to loose! Let us know how it works out. Thanks... Going to go in and try not to wake the wife and get the specs of spring length from manual. will add to post if successful, & survive! Bottom of noisy box... not today, sorry. If memory is correct, 13" = rifle and 11" = carbine, best if you could match to anothers or count coils. |
| From Army & Air Force manual, May 1991: Rifle 11 3/4 (29.85 cm) to 13 1/2 (34.29 cm) Carbine 10 1/16 ( 25.56 cm) to 11 1/4 (28.58 cm) One can anly assume that the longer lengths would be for new springs, and those lesser lengths for springs which have seen some use or taken a "set." Glad to have been of help! |
