I just threw together a precision AR, and I still have a standard trigger in it. I'd like to get a trigger better suited for distance work. I could get by with the standard trigger, so I'm not looking for anything crazy like a 300 dollar match grade Knights or something like that. Whats the most inexpensive trigger one can get that would help distance shooting? Thanks, Scott |

According to Steve (bigbore) at ADCO, Geissele will soon release a non-adjustable 2 stage trigger that will go for about $150. Maybe Steve can shed some more light on this. You may want to run a seacrh in this forum for "Geissele." Hope this helps, Justin |

I believe I know of the mod that you're referring to .... but for the sake of my (our) curiosity .... could you please elaborate? |
the old 4th posn set trigger hack been around forever it fell from favor due to every clown with a file and vise thinking he was a gun plumber |
Nope, guess not .... that ain't the one I'm familiar with. |
????????????? |
Agreed, I love this trigger in my AR-10. |
check you im |
| If you really want cheap, I put a set of the jp yellow springs available from Brownells for 9.95$ in with a stock RRA trigger. Trigger wasn't horrible to begin with just heavy. Droped it down to probably around 3.5-4.5 lbs. Some literature reads that you need to use a lightwieght hammer with those springs put I have no problems with the standard hammer. It was well worth what I have in it. |

I don't think you can really compare adjustable triggers to these factory set 2-stage triggers. LMT and RRA 2 stage triggers are really nice when you comapre them to standard factory single stage Ar triggers, but a high end trigger usually stands out enough to warrant the extra cost. I haven't tried the Jewel AR trigger, but my JP single stage w/speed hammer is insane... total of less than 1mm of travel. It just fires when you pull it. My KAC has a nice 1st stage takeup and a 2nd stage to die for. It seriously has the feel of a thin 'glass rod' breaking. I've tried one Gieselle, it wasn't as nice as my KAC, but I spent over half an hour tweaking my KAC to perfection. The Gieselle I tried was just thrown in with little adjustment, and after I get mine and set it correctly, I'll be able to comment more. |
Personally I do not like Jewells as they are a PITA to install with the extra parts and the stupid ratchet adjustment plate thing I have only done 2, but i felt the trigger was not nice enough to justify the more complicated install and it seemed a bit fragile but both these installs were for benchrest rifles so no big deal in that regaurd |
Buy some and try it. It lightened mine up. TS |

| I am not arguing here just asking a question but other than springs what else affects the weight of the pull other than the three spings that are replaced. No, Nothing is done for take up in the trigger or any gritty creep, if there is any, but it does make it considerably lighter. |
geometry( and therefore leverage) and the smoothness of the engagement surfaces |

I am really surprised that nobody recommended a JP trigger. Call up JP and they will tell you about their fire control trigger kit. They even have a drop-in model for those who aren't gunsmith savy that comes with oversized anti-walk pins, speed hammer. etc. At the three gun matches I go to they swear by these triggers and wouldn't have any other. Call them up, I ordered my barrel and stock from them. They love questions and they love to talk about guns. 651-426-9196 Best $170 I have ever spent! |

Funny, I just ordered another trigger today, a JP with their speed hammer. I have the same thing in my IPSC carbine and it has broke at 2.25 lbs crisp for 4 years now. The orther I have is the Jewell in a CMP Service Rifle, LOVE it. I almost bought a RRA but went with the JP. If money was tight I'd buy the RRA. I thought about the Knights but I can buy the JP wholesale and I KNOW how it works. Good Luck Bill |

For a single stage, the JP with its speed hammer is the finest upgrade I've made to my Bushy M4. Great trigger and even better service and people to deal with. I don't see how it can get any better than going with John Paul and his crew. I also just got in a second AR lower from RRA and it has their NM two-stage trigger. It dry fires nicely and I'm sure I will be happy with it once it breaks in a bit. Feels a little heavy to start with. I don't know how to fine tune it yet. I just wish JP would come up with a tw-stage as nice as their single stage masterpiece and I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. |
