Anyone have their AR zeroed at a non-traditional range (i.e. different from these)? I was fooling around with the ballistics calculator at www.biggameinfo.com using inputs from Ammo Oracle for XM193, and it looks like zeroing my 20" rifle at 64 or 75 yards would work well for the kind of recreational shooting I do most. With a 64 yard near zero/195 yard far zero the bullet will be within 1" of the sight plane from 34 yards all the way out to 221 yards, and will be back on the same plane as the bore (-2.6") at 249 yards. With a 75 yard near zero/169 yard far zero the bullet will be within 1/2" of the sight plane from 53 yards all the way out to 188 yards, and will be back on the same plane as the bore (-2.6") at 234 yards. It will be within 1" of the sight plane from 38 yards to 202 yards. I rarely get to shoot more than 100 yards, let alone more than 200 yards, and in a SHTF scenario, XM193 won't fragment reliably beyond these ranges in any case. |
