| Looking for an answer for my failure to feed the next round in my Bushmaster 16" carbine. I have changed buffer springs, used two other lowers both Bushmasters. As it is now, I can only fire one round and the bolt fails to pick up the next round. Could it be a gas tube problem? This Bushy upper just returned from Bushmaster and they really didn't solve the problem. I had only sent them the upper and bolt carrier group. They polished the locking lugs and replaced only the bolt in my carrier. Don't understand why they did not fix the problem. Head spacing is fine according to Bushmaster. Help! |
| I used several different mags, new and used. Upon firing the first round the bolt is not coming back far enough to pick up another round. The answer to your questions is that the bolt does not come far enought back to lock the carrier group. All the mags work perfectly in my other Bushmaster Carbine. All buffer springs have been replaced. I used a lower with an A2 Regular Stock and another Bushy with a new buffer springs in a 6 position stock. Same problem no matter what lower I use or what butt stock is used (shorty or regular stock). |

Then your problem may be short stroking then. Check out this thread: Short Stroking. Tweak gives an excellent step by step analysis and recommendations on what to do. It's kind of lengthy but quite informative. |
