I have decided to go with a RRA AR-15 for my new tool.  I was wondering what kind of accuracy and range I can expect from a .223 with a 16" barrel?  Also anybody have any negatives about the RRA line?  From what I've read on this and other boards it seems pretty sound and I want to sling lead not work on this thing all the time.
Thanks for any info.

RRA is tops

bbl length does not affect accuracy, only velocity; define "range"--for what exactly?

Be sure to check out the mid-lengths, if you want a 16" barrel.  They have a longer gas system, sight radius, and handguards.  They last longer, run smoother, and are supposed to be the best new thing since sliced bread.

As far as accuracy and range, that depends on your ammo, your desired range, and your shooting ability more than the barrel.  Here's a chart fron Bushmaster to help with ideas of muzzle velocity and energy from different barrels:

As I'm sure you know, velocity is the prime factor in attaining long ballistic ranges.  Based on what people post here (I've been lurking for a while), they all (14.5-20") get about the same accuracy from stock quality uppers - about .5-1 MOA with decent ammo that matches the twist rate.

Expect 1.5" groups with match ammo and 3" groups with non match ammo at 100 yards.

.5 MOA with a bone stock AR?  Not likely, even with handloads.

I prefer Craftsman and Proto for my tools but RRA makes a nice weapon A 16" barrel combined with the right ammo and right shooter can get a good 500 meters easily... I think any good AR can pull 1 MOA without a problem too. This is all dependant on the shooter, sighting system, and ammo too. As for a mid-length they have their pluses but a carbine length will work just as well.

Here is my Rock River AR-15 carbine middy.  From a bench with factory loads I get a hole about the size of a golf ball at 100 yards after firing a couple 30 round mags.  I have an EOTech for optics.

Thanks for the info guys.  I went today and put my deposit down on a RRA Elite A4 with mid-length quadrail.  Will post pics with the whole family as soon as I pcik it up.  Oh and ALPHAGHOST by range I was talking about the yardage I could expect before it really drops or the ARs effective range with this set up.
Thanks

I shot a 16" Colt this past weekend (New A3) and could hit the 300 and 400 yard steel plate (almost) every time......16" barrels work very well. Good luck!
