Recently installed a RRA 2-stage lower parts kit on a Stag lower with a CMT Enhanced BCG in a Stag upper... No matter what I do the catch will NOT engage the bolt carrier to lock it back. There is virtually not even any resistance on the bolt when I try to lock it back, it just slides right over. I have now replaced the catch assembly with a Bushy one, moly and CLP'd the contacts in the actual assembly and on the pin (there is PLENTY of movement, same as on my Bushy that works) so its not a holes out of spec problem I dont think. There is no lube on the actual contact surface with the bolt carrier so I'm at a loss.... could it be a BCG issue or is there something I'm missing??? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Will |

The trouble shooting or builders forums are probably a better place to ask a build question, or to trouble shoot an issue. However, your info leaves a little to be desired. Do you have the same problem with both bolt catches? Does it do this when you insert an empty mag? What happens when you push down on the bolt catch with no upper attached, are you getting full range of motion? Do you own any other AR15s, or is this your first? |

This is my second AR... I tried interchanging my uppers and lowers and have determined the problem is definitely with the lower. Both bolt catches had the same problems-- I have compared them to my Bushy lower and there is an identical range of motion. A magazine doesn't alter the problem at all, and i have held the bolt open to see if resistance is pushing the mag follower down and it isn't, so I dont believe there is too much resistance. I've tried everything I could think of and will move it to the build forum if you think I'd find more of a response there... Thanks for the response and and info you can provide... Will |
