I currently own an m-4 with tha standard upper. I am interested in a shorter version of this system for personal use. What can I expect in accuracy and recoil with the shortened upper?

Try in the Armory under Class 3 discussions or Here.

What I noticed is with the shorter sight radius you may get larger groups.  I have 11.5" SBR, but I've not shot anything shorter.  I can't tell any difference in recoil.

Depends on what kind of optic and buffer your are running.  Accuracy with my BUIS suffer because of the short sight radius.  If you use something like and Aimpoint, EOTech, or Compact ACOG, your accuracy will be excellent as mine is.  With the setup you see below I can shoot 2 MOA "off hand" at 100 meters using 75 gr. ammo.  I am using an Enidine buffer to tame the increased carrier speed produced by the Krink FH.  My SBR has much less recoil than my 16" which just has an H2 buffer.
