Fist post here and all.

I've recently aquired a position as a PMC. My company, which is not a PMC firm, has yet to hammer out a lot of details about the deployment. These range from convoy ops, vehicles, weapons, you name it. It's a cluster fuck at the moment, but our team leader will have most of it squared away in a few months, well before we leave. Heres the deal, gents. As it stands now, we appear to have almost unlimited funds. However, that could change.

Our first choice is of course the Colt M-4. But like I said, funding could change. What I need from you guys is your opinions on the AR variants out there. Which one or ones are the best, most reliable etc etc.

Semper Fidelis!

If you are picking up a contract you might very well be limited on your weapon choice, and could definately be limited by what would be available once you get where you're going.  You could be like the unfortunate bastard who's procurement officer thought he would save money by ordering semi Bushy M4s and later ordering the FA parts.  The end result was not what was expected.
The agency that lets the contract might also have some restrictions on what's used.  Might want to wait until y'all have a better idea of what's going on.

As I said before, "I've recently aquired a position as a PMC". As it stands now, there are no restrictions. However, like you said, that could change.

I've been asked to search out other potential companies as suppliers of weapons. I'm know the Colt series of military arms, and not the others...DPMS, Bushmaster, etc.

Are you looking for FA weapons?

Like I said, we would prefer the Colt M-4 series (SS/FA). But given the budget that could change...body armor, heavily armored vehicles (SUVs) etc...

If shit gets hairy, a FA weapon might be required.

I'm also a Marine with two tours in Iraq.

Might want to check the PMC board over on Lightfighter.
Colt as your first choice would be good, they've got got pretty good QC, although their commitment to filling .mil contracts might make them scarce.  As for other mfrs, Bushy and Rock River are good choices.  Bushy has been used by Blackwater for some time.  Armalite would be another good choice.  DPMS seems to be spotty, although some have absolutely no probs.

LMT.

Many here think they are even better than Colt.

+1 for LMT.  My buddy let me borrow his and I kept "forgetting" to give it back for two weeks.  Function, reliability, fit, finish...all were tops.
